Tickets for the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 in Silkeborg, Denmark, from 16 to 24 March, are now on sale.

Silkeborg is Denmark’s outdoor capital with its epic lakes and forests, but in March attention will shift to the Silkeborg Sportscenter as the world’s best curlers come together to compete for the women’s world title.

So far, 11 of the 13 nations are qualified:

Sweden (Olympic and European champion nation)
Canada (World champion nation)
United States
South Korea

The final two teams will be determined at the new World Qualification Event in Naseby, New Zealand from 18 to 23 January.

Denmark is easy to get to and easy to get around. The nearest airport is Billund Airport – 75 km (one hour drive).

Silkeborg and the surrounding Lake District is a fantastic – and at times forgotten – gem in the Danish landscape. With more than 50 lakes and a forest area, which stretches beyond 224 square kilometers Silkeborg Søhøjlandet is the largest nature area in the entire country.

International curling championships have been held regularly in Denmark, in recent years. The World Junior Curling Championships 2016 were held in Taarnby, Copenhagen; while the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2015 took place in Esbjerg. Esbjerg also played host to the Capital One World Women’s Curling Championship 2011. With this in mind, the local organising committee has plenty of experience and is looking forward to another great sporting event in Denmark.

No matter your budget, Silkeborg has accommodation to suit your needs. In Silkeborg, you will find spectacular surroundings, great art and the wonderful tastes of Nordic Cuisine.

The World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 is organised by The Danish Curling Federation in collaboration with the City of Silkeborg, Sport Event Denmark and the World Curling Federation.
